Sharp and Loewe AG to Develop LCD Televisions Dec 10, 2004

Sharp Corp. (Osaka, Japan) will cooperate with German consumer electronics manufacturer Loewe AG to develop and produce liquid crystal display (LCD) televisions. In January 2005, the two manufacturers will establish a center to co-develop core parts for LCD TVs. The Japanese firm will invest about 2 billion yen (approx. U.S. $19.1 million) to raise its stake in Loewe from the current 8.9 percent to a maximum of 29 percent, likely to make it Loewe's biggest shareholder. (Asia Pulse)
