In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Electrolux Home Products Inc. (Orangeburg, S.C., U.S.) has recalled 5,280 lawn tractors. Consumers were advised to stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
The Husqvarna lawn tractors can develop abrasions on the fuel tank because of the fuel line clamp's location. This can result in a fuel tank leak, which could pose a fire hazard to consumers. The company has received four reports of fuel tanks leaking, although no property damage has been reported.
The affected lawn tractors are gasoline-powered and are designed for residential use. The recall involves models LTH18542A and LTH18542B and includes all serial numbers.
Husqvarna dealers and distributors sold the tractors throughout the U.S. from November 2003-July 2004 for about U.S.$1,500.
