Sears, Roebuck and Co., through FBA Holdings, Inc., a direct wholly-owned subsidiary, has agreed to acquire Westar Contract Kitchen & Bath, considered one of the U.S. Southwest's premier suppliers of major kitchen appliances.
Westar has served the building and remodeling industry in Arizona and Nevada since 1978 and offers appliance brands such as Dacor, GE Monogram, Jenn-Air, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, Sub-Zero, Viking, and Wolf. The retailer also offers architectural plumbing fixtures to upscale home builders and remodelers. Westar currently has showrooms in Tempe, Tucson, Scottsdale, and Peoria, AZ, U.S. as well as in Las Vegas, NV, U.S., offering local inventory, delivery, and appliance installation services.
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Elyse Sioles, former owner of Westar, will serve as president and general manager.

Buley, senior vice president/general manager of home stores for Sears. “It underscores our commitment to maintaining a leadership position in the appliance business and to serving the luxury home building market. Westar truly is 'best of class' in this market in Arizona and Nevada and has an excellent reputation as one of the largest contract appliance dealer in some of the fastest-growing housing markets in the U.S.”
FBA Holdings Inc., a direct wholly-owned subsidiary of Sears, also operates McPhail's Appliance, with six showrooms serving Northern California and Reno NV, U.S.; Florida Builders Appliances with six showrooms located in Southern FL, U.S.; and Standards of Excellence with five showrooms in the San Diego, CA, U.S. area. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected by year-end.
