Lowe's Opens Florida Regional Distribution Center Oct 19, 2004

Appliance retailer Lowe's Companies, Inc. announced the opening of its regional distribution center (RDC) in Osceola County, FL, U.S. The company says the more than 1.3 million-sq-ft RDC will bring more than 600 jobs and represents a $75 million investment in the community.

The RDC will service approximately 120 stores throughout Florida and Southern Georgia. The fully automated center is equipped with more than 7 miles of conveyor to transport more than 25,000 items each year.

"After a slight delay from the recent hurricanes, we are pleased to announce the Florida Distribution Center is officially open for business," said Mike Mabry, Lowe's executive vice president of logistics and distribution. "This distribution center is key in making sure our customers have quality products at everyday competitive prices. This facility will also ensure our Florida and southeast customers know their local Lowe's store will be stocked and quickly replenished with the right items when it comes to disaster preparedness and recovery."
