Rheem Manufacturing Company, Air Conditioning Division announced that it has been named 2004 Comfortech 2004 Showcase Award Winner for its Super Quiet 80 gas furnace.

Rheem says the award marks the first time that one manufacturer's products received back-to-back repeat wins. In addition to the recent recognition for design leadership, the company was also awarded with the 2003 Comfortech Innovation Award for Heating Equipment.

A panel of judges evaluated the Super Quiet 80 gas furnace against heating products produced by several other manufacturers. The judges reviewed key factors such as innovation, design functionality, and ease of use. The Super Quiet 80 received accolades for patented technology, which Rheem says greatly reduces sound decibels. Product features include solid upper and lower doors, a robust ignition system, four-speed blower taps, unique combustion air options, time-tested integrated furnace control, and a small, service-friendly design.

"Winning an award of this caliber for two consecutive years is a true testament to the innovative spirit and collaborative teamwork embraced by our employees, distributor partners and the contractors who install and service our equipment," said Rheem Air Conditioning Division President J.R. Jones. "This product and award underscores our commitment to listening to our contractors and distributors to develop the products they need for today¬°|s competitive marketplace. It also validates what we believe is the most complete and technologically advanced furnace line from end to end."

According to Rheem, its Super Quiet 80 furnace uses a unique combustion air inlet and top plate to perform at industry-leading sound levels. The furnace opeates at an 80-percent AFUE rating, with input rates ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 BTUs. In addition, the unit's 34-in height is said to make it light, easy to handle, install, and service.

The company says the Super Quiet 80 is designed to satisfy applications that traditionally require upflow or horizontal furnaces. The furnace is also equipped with humidifier and electronic air cleaner hookups to maximize indoor air quality.
