New York Zion Trading Recalls Oscillating Fans Oct 11, 2004

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, New York Zion Trading Corp. of Flushing, NY, U.S. recalled about 2,500 portable oscillating electric fans.

According to CPSC, the fan's wiring is undersized and the power plug is not polarized, creating potential fire and shock hazards. Although no incidents have been reported, consumers were advised to stop using the recalled products immediately.

The recall involves 16-in diam 3-speed oscillating fans that mount on adjustable stands. "NYZT" appears in the center of the front fan guard. The model numbers, FS-1601A and FS-1607C, are found on a silver label on the back of the controls. The fans come in two color combinations: blue and white, and all gray.

The fans were sold at discount and variety stores in the New York City metropolitan area during May 2004.
