Queensland Approves Framework for Appliance Waste Water Control Oct 8, 2004

The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) has approved a framework for laws covering the use of waste water from washing machines and kitchen sinks.

The Australian state is satisfied that the public health issues of using gray water have been addressed.

LGAQ spokesman Greg Hallam said local councils expect to be involved in approving and controlling the use of gray water in home appliances and domestic environments through July 2005.

"There'll be different sorts of styles of delivering gray water in the community, but it's most likely people will opt for a scientific system based on the reticulation of that gray water, sub-surface level so it doesn't create any public health issue," Mr. Hallam said.
