Maytag Workers Approve New Union Contract Sep 27, 2004

Maytag Corp. of Newton, IA, U.S. said it had reached a deal with union workers and ratified a new 3-year contract covering production and maintenance employees at Maytag’s refrigeration facilities in Amana, IA, U.S.

"We are pleased to have reached this new labor agreement between the I.A.M. Local 1526 and Maytag," said Mark Krivoruchka, Maytag senior vice president, Human Resources. "This agreement demonstrates a willingness on the part of both parties to address the critical issues impacting our business to allow us to become more customer-responsive and competitive in the marketplace."

The agreement between Maytag and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1526 covers about 2,300 workers.
