The ETL SEMKO division of Intertek Group plc, a global supplier of testing, inspection and certification, announced that all major North American retailers now accept products that have been tested and certified by Intertek and consequently bear the ETL Listed Mark. Costco Wholesale Corporation, a leading warehouse club operator, was recently added to a list compiled by Intertek of more than 10 top selling retailers that accept ETL-listed products.
Other retailers that accept ETL-certified products include:
Circuit City
Lowe's
Best Buy
IKEA
JCPenney
Radio Shack
Sam's Club
Wal-Mart
Sears
Target
"Total retail acceptance of the ETL Listed Mark benefits manufacturers and retailers alike," said Donald Mays, vice president of retail and consumer product services, Intertek. "Choice spurs competition. Competition spawns better, faster service for consumer product manufacturers. And this translates to higher quality products, available real-time for retailers and consumers."
The ETL Listed Mark is a proprietary Intertek certification mark that indicates that a product meets the minimum requirements of widely accepted product safety standards. Compliance to these standards is determined through independent testing by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
