LG Electronics Sales Up in August Sep 21, 2004

South Korean electronics and appliance producer LG Electronics Inc. reported that its sales surged 29.5 percent year-on-year to 2.01 trillion won (approx. U.S. $1.75 billion) in August.

The company said its digital display and media division posted 709 billion won in revenue last month, up 5 percent from a year ago, despite a fall in prices of some products. Sales by LG's information and communication segment shot up 71 per cent to 848 billion won.

The electronics giant also said it sold 3.9 million mobile handsets in August, up 50 percent from a year earlier. (Yonhap)
