Appliance retailer Sears Canada announced the launch of a stainless steel major appliance gallery, which will debut in most of the company's 122 full-line department stores and all of its 47 Sears Home stores across Canada.
"We are already leaders in the major appliances category," said Ashley Whicher, group vice president, Home & Hardlines, Sears Canada Inc. "This multi-million dollar investment to dramatically expand our selection of stainless steel major appliances in most of our stores not only meets the needs and wants of our customers, it allows us to grow our market share to greater levels."
Devoted exclusively to stainless steel major appliances, the gallery offers top mount, bottom mount, and side-by-side refrigerators, electric and gas ranges, wallovens, cooktops, dishwashers, and includes a number of kitchen settings to show consumers giving how the appliances look within their environment.
Stainless Steel major appliances are available in several brands, including Kenmore and Kenmore Elite brand, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Maytag, Jenn Air, and GE.
"The naturally neutral finish of stainless steel is hugely popular and blends into any kitchen color scheme" says Gary Dietrich, national merchandise manager, Major Appliances, Sears Canada. "Homeowners can integrate stainless steel into their kitchens without worrying that it will go out of style in the next few years."
With home renovations on the rise, homebuyers are striving for the popular "industrial" look outfitting their kitchen in stainless steel from top to bottom. Others are finding that stainless steel appliances strike a nice contrast with warmer, more traditional finishes such as maple or cherry cabinets. Mr. Dietrich said, "Stainless steel major appliances are now looked at as another color option, like white, bisque or black."
The stainless steel major appliance gallery was piloted in the Sears Home store in Woodbridge, Ontario in March 2004. (Canada NewsWire)
