Lexmark International Recalls Laser Printers Sep 8, 2004

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Lexmark International Inc. of Lexington, KY, U.S. recalled more than 39,000 Lexmark, Dell, and IBM laser printers

Consumers were advised to stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed, as the printers can short-circuit, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported.

The recall includes Lexmark, Dell, and IBM brand laser printers. The recall includes the following model numbers: Lexmark E232, E232t, E330, E332n, and E332tn; IBM Infoprint 1412 and 1412n; and Dell 1700 and 1700n.

The Lexmark printers were sold directly through distributors, and at electronic, office supply and computer stores. The IBM printers were sold directly through authorized distributors and resellers and via IBM's Web site. The Dell printers were sold directly through the firm's Web site.

The recalled products were sold from May 2004 through August 2004 for about U.S. $200. The printers were manufactured in China.
