Westinghouse Expands into IT Market Aug 31, 2004

Westinghouse Digital Electronics, a maker of digital entertainment devices, announced that its line of 15-, 20-, 27- and 30-in LCD TVs are now available throughout the U.S. through Tech Data Corp.'s Digital Environments Specialized Business Unit (SBU).

"This alliance opens up new avenues for a traditional consumer electronics brand like Westinghouse to extend its reach to IT resellers and CE integrators, and we are committed to bringing premium, TV-grade LCD products into these new markets," said Douglas Woo, president of Westinghouse Digital.

Tech Data is a provider of IT products, logistics management, and other value-added services. The distributor's Digital Environments SBU tailors its products and services offering to resellers targeting the converging IT and consumer electronics market.

"There is tremendous opportunity for resellers targeting the growing demand for LCD displays in both the residential and business markets," said Karl Werner, director of Tech Data's Advanced Technologies Group. "Westinghouse Digital's LCD displays are suitable for a wide array of audio/video solutions for use in homes, offices, airports, and restaurants."
