Consumer electonics maker Sharp has reduced its LCD TV prices by 5,000 to 10,000 yuan (approx. U.S. $604 to 1,208) in China.
Due to the price reduction, Sharp’s LCD TVs will now be less expensive than TVs from South Korea-based makers. However, the products will still be more expensive than LCD-TVs from China-based companies.
The 30-in Sharp LCD-30HV4 model is now priced at 23,900 yuan (approx. $217), more than 1,000 yuan (approx. $120) less than the LG Electronics LG MW-30LZ10 (priced at 25,188 yuan). The 20-in Sharp LCD-20B4A is now 7,900 yuan (approx. $3,041), also more than 1,000 yuan (approx. $120) less than the LG RT-20LA30 priced at 9,016 yuan (approx. $1,088).
However, Sharp’s 20-in LCD TVs are 2,000 yuan (approx. $241) more than those from China-based makers. Its 30-in LCD-TVs are 5,000 to 7,000 yuan (approx. $603 to 845) more than China-based Skyworth’s least expensive 30-in LCD TV model priced at 168,000 yuan (approx. $20,285). (Digi Times)
