PT LG Electronics Indonesia (LGEIN) said it will increase its air-conditioner (AC) production to 115,000 this year from 100,000 last year to meet growing demand.
The company's corporate planning manager, Moon Ik Jang, said the plan to raise AC production was aimed at increasing its domestic market share which currently stands at 20 percent.
To raise the AC production, LGEIN would increase its investment by U.S. $11 million this year, he said.
"We must convince the LG head office in South Korea of our wish to make Indonesia the company's AC production center in Southeast Asia due to its huge market," he said.
LGEIN's marketing general manager, Sung Khiun, meanwhile, said Indonesia's AC market would grow significantly to 750,000 this year compared to 500,000 last year. (ANTARA)
