9.5 Million European Households Have Installed Home Networks May 1, 2004

More than 9.5-million European homes already have installed home networks, according to a survey by analyst firm Strategy Analytics (Newton, MA, U.S.).

In a survey of 800 broadband households across seven countries, 41 percent of those surveyed claimed to connect multiple PCs and other devices to their broadband Internet service.

According to the research firm, home networking is most popular in the Nordic region, where 52 percent of broadband users connect more than one device. By contrast, only 21 percent of broadband users in France have multiple devices connected, which according to the firm, reflects lower PC ownership rates in the country.

Findings in a separate but similar study by Strategy Analytics showed that European television broadcasters are losing millions of viewers to broadband Internet services.
