Shanghai Retailer Publishes Blacklist of 'Sub-Standard' Appliances Jun 15, 2004

An electric home appliance retailer in Shanghai has published the first blacklist of what it views as poor-quality and sub-standard appliance products, according to a report in China's Youth Daily.

The retailer, Yongle Home Appliance Co. Ltd, said it would not sell any product on the list at its local outlets to ensure that the products it sells are of a high quality.

Seventeen products are on the list, including a Wuge brand wireless phone, a Tsinghua Tongfang wireless phone, a Jinghua VCD, and a Gemei player.

Two of the 17 products are listed as "poor quality" and 15 as "substandard." (Shanghai Daily News)
