CEA Appoints Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs Jun 9, 2004

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced it has appointed Julie Kearney as senior director of Regulatory Affairs and will represent CEA before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and other government bodies on issues such as digital audio broadcasting, high-definition television (HDTV), digital rights management, and satellite. Ms. Kearney also will work to increase CEA's international policy activities.

Ms. Kearney comes to CEA from MCI, where she served as associate counsel in MCI's International Affairs group. There she represented MCI's business and policy interests before the U.S. Department of State, the FCC, and the Department of Commerce. Prior to joining MCI, Ms. Kearney was an associate at Haley Bader & Potts (now Garvey Schubert Barer), where she represented domestic and international telecommunications clients and broadcast clients.

Currently, Ms. Kearney is involved in the Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA) and serves as co-chair of its International Telecommunications Committee.
