Thermador, part of BSH Home Appliances Corporation, a division of Bosch and Siemens Hausgeraete GmbH, announced that it was the recipient of four recent industry awards and honors.

Thermador's Universal Cook 'n' Vent (UCV) downdraft system was one of 14 products selected in Home Magazine's kitchen and bath awards (April issue), and was recognized in the ventilation category in Woman's Day Kitchens & Baths first-ever KB Awards (Spring issue).

The company's new built-in refrigerator was named one of "The Best Kitchen Appliances of 2004" by Decor & Style Magazine (February issue). Additionally, it was also the recipient of the "House Beautiful Loves This Item" honor as one of 10 favorite products selected by the magazine (August issue) from the 2004 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (K/BIS).

"For more than 70 years, Thermador has been an industry leader in manufacturing state-of-the-art appliances for the true cooking enthusiast. We are extremely proud of these recent recognitions for two of our outstanding new products," said Franz J. Bosshard, president and CEO.

The Universal Cook 'n' Vent (UCV) reportedly provides a greater level of performance by rising to a full 15-in when in use, which is approximately 50 to 80 percent taller than similar competitive units. With its screw-drive system, the UCV features smooth and ultra-quiet movement, as well as an integrated obstruction sensor for safety. The downdraft system features a 600 cfm Integral Blower that is capable of longer duct runs and more turns without significantly affecting its overall performance. The unit is also available with 1,000 cfm remote ventilator options.

Thermador's built-in refrigerator is said to operate at 35 to 37 decibels and features interior shelving with an adjustable and frameless design for added visibility and storage capacity. With a stainless steel front, tempered glass shelves, and brushed aluminum rails, additional features include: integrated gallon door storage, adjustable temperature storage drawer (available on side-by-side models), sealed humidity-controlled crispers, roller glides for easy drawer access, convenient ice/water filtration system, and wine rack. The company offers 18 different models in three sizes (36-, 42-, and 48-in).
