LG Electronics to Focus on Dishwasher, Air Purifier Offering Jun 4, 2004

Home appliance maker LG Electronics announced that it would designate dishwashers as a "new growth engine product" along with the air purifiers and would focus on making the sector one of the company's main strategic businesses.

With the move, LG plans to secure 60 percent of South Korea's dishwasher market this year, which is expected to grow about 200,000 units, making the item its premium product line along with the company's Tromm washing machine. According to the company, it achieved the largest share in the county's washing machine market last year.

LG Electronics vice president Kim Yong-su said the market for dishwashers has high growth potential as the penetration rate of the products in the country's market is less than 10 percent." And with the growing interest in the so-called "Well Being" trend, the dishwasher is placing itself as a much-have item along with the air purifier. (The Chosun Ilbo)
