Dell Expands Inspiron Notebook Line Jun 2, 2004

Dell (Round Rock, TX, U.S.) has introduced what it is calling a "new value-priced" Inspiron(TM) notebook.

With a starting price of U.S. $799 and weighing less than 7lbs, 1 oz, the Inspiron 1000 is said to be ideal for consumers and small business owners who need basic computing and productivity performance in an inexpensive notebook.

The Inspiron 1000 is configured by Dell to provide different hardware options. All units come with a Mobile Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.20-GHz processor, up to 64-MB shared system memory for graphics, integrated 10/100 LAN for broadband and network access, standard 56K modem for dial-up Internet access, three USB 2.0 ports for high-speed peripheral connectivity, and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition. The notebook also has a 802.11 b/g (54 Mbps) wireless PCMCIA card option.

The new computer has multimedia capabilities such as a standard DVD/CD-RW combination drive for viewing DVDs and burning CDs, Dell Jukebox powered by MusicMatch(R) for downloading and managing music files, Dell Picture Studio Photo Album and Paint Shop Pro for managing digital pictures, and Dell Media Experience(TM) software.
