For the second consecutive year, two of Blueair's in-room air purifiers have received the top two Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) levels, according to the April 2004 directory published by the Assocation of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM).

According to AHAM, CADR determines how well an air purifier reduces pollutants such as tobacco smoke, dust, and pollen. The higher CADR level, the faster the air purifier filters the pollutants out of the air.

Out of 159 air purifiers listed, Bluair's Model 601 rating was the highest ever recorded by the association. The CADR level given to the Model 60, with a room capacity of up to 679 sq ft, was greater than 450 for pollen, greater than 445 for dust, and greater than 438 for smoke.

Blueair's Model 501 in-room air purifier received the second highest CADR level with 388 for smoke, 377 for dust, and 378 for pollen. Room capacity for the 501 Model is up to 620 sq ft.

According to Blueair president, Bengt Rittri, the company's high CADR levels are due to its pateneted HEPASilentâ„¢ filtration system that is said to capture 99.97 percent of airborne pollutants. "We are honored by the high CADR levels our in-room air purifiers continuously obtain in the AHAM-sponsored testing," said Mr. Rittri.

According to Blueair, the test is accepted in both Europe and Asia, and is used in the U.S. by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to compare energy efficiency of air cleaners.
