Mr. Hawkins joined the company in January 2002 as Senior Vice President and President of Medtronic's vascular business and currently serves as a member of the company's Executive Committee. Mr. Hawkins also spent 10 years in various leadership positions at Eli Lilly culminating as the president and CEO of Ivac Corporation. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering from Duke University and obtained his MBA from the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business.

In related organization announcements, Scott Ward was named to replace Mr. Hawkins as president of Medtronic's Vascular Business Unit, and Steve Mahle was promoted to executive vice president.
