Six hearth product makers were presented with National Fireplace Institute (NFI) Advocate recognition awards at the Hearth Patio and Barbecue Expo in Anaheim, CA, U.S. Fireplace Products International, Ltd., HearthStone, JØtul North America, DESA Heating Products, Lennox Hearth Products, and the divisions of Hearth & Home Technologies (Heatilator, Heat-N-Glo, and Quadra-Fire) were acknowledged by NFI, the certification agency for the hearth products industry, for fulfilling all requirements to become official Advocate companies.
Bob Wise, president of the HEARTH Education Foundation Board of Governors and Jim Tully, treasurer of the same Board of Governors, presented awards to each company during the Expo. The companies have recently become part of an elite roster that acknowledges and supports the certification program for hearth professionals set forth by NFI. The NFI program represents the industry's shared commitment in promoting excellence in the installation and service of hearth products and systems.
Each Advocate recipient has met specific NFI requirements and adheres to the following guidelines:
Include the NFI logo in all instruction manuals along with a statement suggesting that NFI Certified Specialists install the company's products.
Strongly recommend that dealers become NFI Certified.
Receive accreditation of training programs with NFI Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to help NFI Certified Specialists maintain certification.
"The HPBA Expo was the ideal venue to officially show our appreciation to our NFI Advocates," said Sue Kalish, NFI executive director. "These manufacturers have made a bold commitment to higher installation and service standards for our industry by partnering with our industry's credential program, the National Fireplace Institute certifications."
