The 34th edition of the Milan, Italy-based Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) -- an international biennial exhibition dedicated to heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing technology, water treatment and bathroom fittings -- reported that it has closed with extraordinary success.
The exhibition, which came to an end March 6, said it beat all records, with approximately 150,000 visitors, 26,282 (18 percent) of which were from overseas. The absolute number of visits increased by 2 percent, largely attributable to foreign visitors (+12 percent) coming mostly from the following countries: Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Switzerland, and the Mediterranean countries in general (Croatia, Slovenia, etc.). Show organizers said attendance was also excellent for visitors from Eastern Europe (Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Baltic countries), the Middle East, and Asia.
The exhibitors numbered 2,836, including those exhibiting in Servitis, the show of services for the heating and plumbing sector, held at the same time and in synergy with MCE. These included both direct exhibitors (1,875) and represented companies (961) from no less than 57 different countries. The number of foreign exhibitors (1,162) was very high, with a particularly high number of foreign direct exhibitors, which rose from 289 to 359, an increase of 24.2 percent. The net exhibiting area taken up by the exhibition was 139,741 sq m, effectively corresponding to the entire useable floor area of the Milan fairgrounds.
The conventions, the show organizers reported, were very well-attended. Nearly 3,000 people took part in the 18 official conventions on the agenda. There was much discussion in particular on the subjects of quality and legislation. Quality was considered to be a powerful weapon for European industries against the aggressive competition of new competitors, those from Asia in particular, and legislation was also seen as providing important guidelines to favor company competitiveness.
The customary survey carried out by Fiera Milano International with the collaboration of Abacus showed the very high level of exhibitor satisfaction, especially since such a commercially active edition of the exhibition had not been held for many years. At the same time, the exhibitors appreciated the fact that optimistic scenarios for a recovery in industry and in consumption were charted.
“We are extremely satisfied with the way the fair went” commented Anna Patani, MCE exhibition director. “Exhibitors and visitors alike took note of the organizational capabilities of Fiera Milano International and were appreciative of our work. At the same time MCE showed its invaluable ability to read and direct the market. These are the two factors that make Mostra Convegno Expocomfort one of the most important international fairs for the plant engineering, construction and bathroom fittings sectors and which allow us to look to the future with confidence”.
