LG Electronics Inc., South Korea's second-largest electronics maker, announced that it will go into expanding sales of its high-end air-conditioners in China to become the top supplier in the mainland by 2006.
In a statement, the company said it expected to generate U.S. $700 million from the sales of air-conditioners, out of the total $2 billion Chinese market in 2006.
As part of its plan, the company is scheduled to introduce about 50 upscale air-conditioner models that blend higher energy efficiency and other value-added features at a Shanghai industrial fair on April 8.
In addition, the company plans to invest more on expanding sales outlets and product development, the statement said.
China is already LG Electronics' main market for electronics goods, including mobile phones and televisions. (Yonhap)
