U.S. domestic appliance maker Whirlpool Corp. is planning to build a new factory in Poland, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jerzy Hausner said.

The Prime Minister said details would be disclosed at a later date. Polish media reported that Whirlpool would likely announce plans to build a new factory in the city of Wroclaw in southwest Poland. The value of the deal is estimated at up to U.S. $185 million. Poland had been competing with its southern neighbor Slovakia to attract the investment.

The deal will come as good news for the Polish economy, which has an unemployment rate of more than 20 percent. (UPI)
