The Gillette Company, headquartered in Boston, MA, U.S., has appointed Joseph J. Schena to the position of vice president, controller, and principal accounting officer, effective May 1, 2004. Mr. Schena replaces Claudio Ruben, who after 33 years of service, has elected to retire.
Mr. Schena, who currently serves as vice president, financial operations, will assume additional responsibility for the company's accounting function, as well as internal and external reporting. He will continue to report to Charles W. Cramb, senior vice president of finance and CFO.
Mr. Schena began his career in 1980 with the General Foods Corporation (now a part of Kraft Foods), where he held a variety of key financial management positions of increasing complexity and scope. Mr. Schena joined Nabisco Foods in 1999 as vice president, Strategic and Business Planning. In that role, he was responsible for developing the company's strategic plan as well as providing strategic and analytical support to Nabisco's Board of Directors. Mr. Schena joined Gillette in March 2001.
