New Zealand-based Fisher & Paykel Appliances announced it has become the premier sponsor of the Silver Ferns and Netball New Zealand teams. Fisher & Paykel will combine its current sponsorship of the annual International competition played in New Zealand "The Fisher & Paykel Series" with sponsorship of the World Netball Champions, the Silver Ferns.

Netball New Zealand CEO, Shelley McMeeken, says the announcement of the new comprehensive 4-year sponsorship is an historic moment for women's sport, a version of basketball in New Zealand. "We are delighted that Fisher & Paykel is extending its partnership with Netball. The company is a long-standing sponsor having been involved with the sport for the past 8 years. They have a solid understanding and appreciation of our Silver Ferns and the role our sport plays in society."

Along with the Silver Ferns sponsorship, Fisher & Paykel Appliances will also be the premier sponsor of the New Zealand Academy Team and also the NZ Under 21 Team, which competes in the World Youth Netball Championships in FL, U.S. next year.

As part of the sponsorship announcement, each Silver Fern squad member will receive a Fisher & Paykel product. Each new player who joins the Silver Ferns over the next 4 years will also receive the same.

The combination of the major sponsorships means previous sponsor Vodafone New Zealand will no longer be Naming Rights Sponsor of the Silver Ferns.
