Samsung Electronics announced it plans to enter the untapped Chilean Information Technology (IT) market, with the settlement of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Korea and Chile.
The Korean Electronics company has announced that it will pursue co-brand marketing with its foreign counterpart, Bellsouth and Entel, as a way to increase sales volume two-fold this year as compared to last year.
The company is also planning to launch sales promotion activities, called "Back to School," in the upcoming school season.
In addition, Samsung is sponsoring the Vina Music Festival, one of the largest music festival in the region in order to strengthen its presence in Latin America.
Hong Sung Jik, a manager of Chilean Samsung Electronics, said, "According to recent market survey done by El Mercurio, one of the largest daily newspapers in the region, Samsung topped the rating in TV and VCR, holding 18.3 and 24.4 percent, respectively last year. As for the DVD Player sector, Samsung got the second position with 11.5 percent, right after Sony at 13.2 percent."
The electronics firm plans to become the number one brand in Chile by focusing on the teen marketing, according to Mr. Jik. (Maekyung)
