Hitachi, Ltd. (Brisbane, CA, U.S.) has announced that it has appointed Masao Hisada as president and CEO of its wholly owned subsidiary, Hitachi America, Ltd.
Mr. Hisada, who most recently served as general manager of the Global Business Division of Hitachi, Ltd., succeeds Shigeharu Mano, who will become vice president and executive officer, president, and CEO, Power Systems of Hitachi, Ltd.
The appointments became effective on Feb. 5, 2004.
Mr. Hisada has served as general manager of Hitachi, Ltd., Global Business Division since April 2003. Prior to that, he was president of Hitachi (China), Ltd. from 2001 to 2003. He joined the International Sales Division of Hitachi, Ltd. in 1972. From 1979 to 1982, Mr. Hisada was assigned to the Hitachi Research Institute. He also spent time with Hitachi America from 1985 to 1991 and served in various sales management positions with the Power and Industrial Systems Group in Japan from 1991 to 2001. He is an economics graduate of Tokyo University.
Mr. Mano has served as president and CEO of Hitachi America, Ltd., since April 2002 and as executive vice president and general manager of Hitachi America's Power and Industrial Group since November, 2001. He joined the International Sales Division of Hitachi, Ltd. in 1971 and has spent 30 years in industrial sales management positions in Japan, the Middle East and North America. He previously was general manager of the Industrial Plant Division of Hitachi, Ltd. since 1997. Before that he was department manager of the Industrial Plant Department of the Overseas Industrial Sales Division from 1992 to 1997. Earlier, he spent time with Hitachi America from 1974 to 1978. He graduated in chemical engineering from Tokyo University.
