The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has confirmed the appointment of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) as the Administrator for the U.S. National Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Subcommittee 59F for Floor Care Appliances. The IEC Subcommittee 59F is responsible for preparing international performance standards for floor care appliances.

The U.S. Technical Advisory Group is tasked with developing and communicating U.S. positions on performance standards and related issues to the IEC 59F subcommittee through ANSI. Daniel Miller, laboratory staff engineer at The Hoover Company and an AHAM member, will continue to serve as the Technical Advisor (TA) to the U.S. TAG and official delegate to the IEC Subcommittee 59F.

AHAM also serves as the Administrator for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to Technical Committee (TC) 59, which is responsible for developing international test procedures for the performance testing of household appliances, including major, portable, and floor care appliances. AHAM also administers several other Technical Advisory Groups to the subcommittees of TC 59. Namely, AHAM administers TAGs for 59A, performance of dishwashers; 59D, performance of clothes washers; 59K, performance of ovens.

To join the TAG to Subcommittee 59F for Floor Care Appliances, individuals must meet eligibility requirements and pay a participation fee billed through ANSI. Details on membership criteria can be found on the AHAM web site at www.aham.org/news/newslist.cfm.
