Jeff Littleton has been named executive vice president of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Mr. Littleton succeeds Frank M. Coda, who will continue to serve the ASHRAE as executive vice president emeritus in a consulting capacity.

"Jeff Littleton brings solid business and association experience to ASHRAE," Mr. Coda said in a written statement announcing the appointment. "He will help the society to maintain its position as a leading global resource for technological development and exchange in the information age."

With his appointment, Mr. Littleton now heads ASHRAE's 100-member staff located in Atlanta, GA, U.S. and Washington, D.C., U.S. He joins ASHRAE from NACE International, the membership association for corrosion engineers, in Houston, TX, U.S., where he served as executive director since 2001. NACE has 15,000 members, a 60-person staff, and an annual budget of U.S. $10.5 million.

Initially recruited by NACE in 1994 to run its $2.5 million publications division, Mr. Littleton's accomplishments include the following: increasing advertising revenues 45 percent during a 3-year period; adding third-party titles to make NACE the international clearinghouse for corrosion literature; and building on a $500,000 capital budget to launch NACE.org, which now supports online sales ranging from $18,000 to $35,000 monthly.

Mr. Littleton began his career in 1985 holding various publishing titles for the PennWell Publishing Company and the energy publications division of Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. He earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Baylor University in Waco, TX, U.S. in 1983. He is a member of the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives and the American Society of Association Executives.

Mr. Coda joined the ASHRAE staff in 1980 when he was named executive director. In 1984, he became the society's executive vice president and chief staff officer.
