Toshiba Ships 150,000th Ultrasound System Jan 16, 2004

Toshiba Medical Systems Corp. (Tustin, CA, U.S.) announced the shipment of its 150,000th electronic scanning diagnostic ultrasound system and two product additions.

The company said the Aplio(TM) is an all digital ultrasound system equipped with increased image color flow and compounding while the Nemio(TM) is said to offer advanced features of high-end systems in a smaller, highly mobile, all digital package. Both systems are said to offer features specifically designed for the U.S. market, such as real-time and wide-band imaging, Tissue Doppler Imaging with quantification, independent beam steering, and all-digital platforms.

Toshiba developed the first ultrasound prototype in 1975 and launched the first product to the market 1 year later.
