The Saskatchewan Government is implementing a provincial sales tax rebate on certain Energy Star-compliant appliances in what it says is a continuation of "building on its commitment to grow a green and prosperous economy."

Energy Star-compliant refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers, and dishwashers purchased on or after Oct. 1, 2003 are eligible for the new program.

The program, a part of the Government's Green Agenda, is designed to encourage consumers to reduce their energy usage, making smart choices that benefit both the economy and the environment.
