Korean Firms Increase Overseas PDP TV Production Dec 31, 2003

South Korean producers of plasma display panel (PDP) TVs are aggressively expanding overseas production as part of cost-cutting efforts.

LG Electronics Inc. is building a large-scale PDP TV plant in China's Nanjing, while Samsung Electronics Co. and Daewoo Electronics have respectively started mass-production of PDP TVs in Mexico and Britain this year.

The rush overseas is primarily intended to cut delivery time and logistics costs as well as maximize tariff benefits amid soaring worldwide demand for flat-screen displays. (Asia Pulse)
