Samsung Electronics Co. is the seventh-most-popular brand in Italy, the company reported, citing results of a survey from London-based research firm Harris Interactive Europe.
The survey of 1,392 Italians over the age of 15 found that Samsung was the only South Korean company to finish on the top 10 list of preferred brands, ahead of other global brands such as Panasonic, BMW, and Adidas.
The survey, which was conducted in October, found that Japanese electronics giant Sony Corp. topped the list, followed by Nokia, Barilla, Philips, and Ferrari.
"Based on the huge popularity among Italian consumers, sales of our digital products grew by more than 25 percent. Samsung has succeeded in establishing its image as a luxury brand," a Samsung official at the Italian branch said.
The appliance maker has been launching its digital products, including double-door refrigerators and digital camcorders, in Italy. Also, the company's liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs are said to hold a 40-percent market share in the region. (Yonhap)
