Seven of the top floor care manufacturers in Canada have come together to form a new Floor Care Division within the Canadian Appliance Manufacturers Association (CAMA).
The companies include Broan-NuTone Canada Inc., Eureka-Beam Canada, Hoover Canada, LG Electronics Canada Inc., Miele Ltd, Panasonic Canada Inc., and Sanyo Canada Inc.
In addition to providing a Canadian market data program, CAMA will also represent floor care division members on the issues of North American standards harmonization and provincial extended producer responsibility (stewardship) and blue box packaging recycling programs.
The need for more accurate and extensive floor care market data, highlighting the differences between U.S. and Canada, and the differences in membership from that of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) Floor Care Division, drove manufacturers to come together and establish the section.
"A Canadian floor care division is the smart move to make," said Dale Heiydt, vice president and general manager of Eureka-Beam Canada. "The Canadian market is an important part of the overall North American floor care business. Canadian offices will now have access to the pertinent market information necessary to make substantial business decisions, and we will be able to focus on initiatives that really matter to our members here."
Ken Elsey, vice president of CAMA, added: "I am extremely pleased to welcome floor care manufacturers into the folds of CAMA. Pending provincial environmental legislation and the increasing need for standards representation requires an industry voice before government. With the formation of this new division, floor care manufactures in Canada will now have that voice."
