LG Electronics October 2003 Sales Up Nov 21, 2003

South Korea-based appliance maker LG Electronics reported that its sales in October jumped 38.7 percent from last year to 1.91 trillion won (U.S. $1.6 billion) due to increased shipments of display equipment and mobile phones.

The October sales were a 9.7-percent rise from the previous month, the company said.

Revenues from display equipment such as digital TVs, flat panels, and plasma display panels rose 6 per cent from September, backed by rising demand to replace bulky, old-style TV screens and computer monitors.

Sales of mobile phones also increased by 12.2 percent from last month to 3.03 million units, the biggest-ever monthly shipment.

In the first 10 months of this year, LG Electronics' aggregated sales stood at 16.6 trillion won, up 16.6 percent from last year. (Yonhap, Asia Pulse)
