CPSC, Cub Cadet Corp. Recall 2,000 Tractors Nov 19, 2003

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Cub Cadet Corp. of Cleveland, OH, U.S. are recalling 2,000 "Cub Cadet Series 7000" tractors.

The high/low shift lever on the recalled tractors could pop out of gear into neutral during operation while operating on steep slopes with attachments, such as a back-hoe or front-end loader installed tractors. This could result in the machine "free-wheeling" until the brake is applied or the transmission is re-engaged, posing a risk of the operator losing control of the tractor.

The recalled tractors include model numbers 7252, 7254, 7264, or 7304, which are written on the hood of the tractor.

Authorized Cub Cadet dealers sold the tractor nationwide for approximately U.S. $10,000 to $14,300 from May 2002 through mid-October 2003.

Consumers were advised to stop using of the tractor immediately unless otherwise instructed.
