Canon Australia Posts Revenue Growth in Q3 Nov 12, 2003

The Canon Australia Group, a subsidiary of Japan-based Canon Inc., posted revenue growth of 9.4 percent for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 2003.

The group, which has operations in Australia and New Zealand, recorded net sales of A$222.5 million (approx. U.S. $158 million) for the quarter. Year-to-date net sales were $629.7 million, an increase of 6.8 per cent.

"Quarter upon quarter, Canon demonstrates its leadership across the imaging and information management spectrum," Canon Australia Group managing director Shuichi Tsukahara said in a statement.

"With breakthrough products ranging from the first digital SLR under $2,000 to the fastest AO-size printer on the market, Canon is clearly earning its impressive financial results."

Mr. Tsukahara also said the result represented Canon Australia's 15th consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth. He added there were many standout performers during the quarter, including color printer Canon's imageRUNNER iR C3200.

"Sales of digital cameras, video cameras, color printers, and consumables also continued to surge for Canon, particularly in light of increasing growth in the direct print market. “ (Asia Pulse)
