The Canadian Appliance Manufacturers Association (CAMA) has reported in its "Quarterly Sales Update" that sales for all Canadian major appliances are up 5.3 percent so far this year, with 3.5 million units sold.
CAMA is forecasting that major appliance sales will continue to remain strong throughout the remainder of the year, with a total of 4,644,000 refrigerators, electric and gas ranges, automatic washers, electric and gas dryers, dishwashers, cooktops, and microwave ovens shipped so far in 2003.

CAMA is forecasting that major appliance sales will continue to remain strong throughout the remainder of the year, with a total of 4.64 million refrigerators, electric and gas ranges, automatic washers, electric and gas dryers, dishwashers, cooktops, and microwave ovens shipped so far in 2003.
Dishwasher and cooktop oven sales were particularly strong in the third
quarter, up 16.7 percent and 21.9 percent, respectively, from this same period in 2002. Year-to-date dishwasher sales are up 5.9 percent, and cooktops are up 14.5 percent. Microwave ovens are up 12.9 percent from 599,601 to 677,139 in 2003. Gas ranges year-to-date have also experienced an 8.2 percent increase to 43,248 from 39,971.
In 2003 thus far, refrigerators experienced a 3.3 percent rise in sales. Some other sales statistics are as follows: Electric ranges saw a 2 percent rise; automatic washers experienced a 2.2 percent increase; electric dryers saw a 4.4 percent rise; and gas dryers experienced a 3.2 percent increase.
