After recently manufacturing "Philips" cellular mobile phones embedded with portable audio system, digital video imaging and music lights in China, a wireless business unit of Philips Consumer Electronics is now planning to enter the Indian market with the same product next month. The strategy is in sync with the global perspective of Philips Consumer Electronics to launch new mobile phones targeted at the youth platform.
The company introduced the new product in Europe and Berlin in August this year and in Indonesia and China recently, Philips Consumer Electronics (business unit wireless) senior vice-president and general manager Ron Dikhoff said.
"While it is too early to comment on the company’s sales target in the Indian market, we hope to garner profitability in the next few years," he said.
As part of its marketing strategy, Philips India Ltd is planning to sell its new range of Philips’ mobile phones through select outlets (5,000 retail outlets through which it sells its consumer electronics products).
To create awareness, Philips India Ltd has also entered into a marketing tie-up with MTV through which it has released a new ad. (Financial Express)
