The Holmes Group, the originators of the Rival® Crock-Pot® slow cooker introduced its newest innovation in slow cooking, VersaWare™. The lighter weight ETC™ (Extreme Temperature Cookware) reportedly can withstand extreme temperature changes, making it the all-purpose line of slow cookers.
According to the company, the VersaWare™ ETC stoneware is so versatile it can be used in the oven, in the microwave, on all stovetops, and in the refrigerator or freezer to store leftovers, without breaking.
While in the slow cooker base, the cooker reportedly allows users to cook like a traditional slow cooker. On its own, the ETC™ stoneware can be used to bake, broil, sauté, roast, reheat, and freeze or chill. With traditional Rival® slow cooker features such as a non-stick, RinseClean™ surface and removable, dishwasher-safe stoneware, VersaWare™ is also said to be easy to clean.
Rival is launching this line with two models in early 2004, and will offer additional models later in the year.
