Household appliance sales at major retailers in Japan in September posted a year-on-year rise for the second consecutive month as unseasonably high temperatures in the month stimulated demand for air conditioners, the Nippon Electric Big-Store Association said.
Sales totaled 178.6 billion yen, up 6.3 percent from a year earlier, led by a 50.3-percent jump in sales of air-conditioners to 8.9 billion yen. (Kyodo News)
