NEC Reports 15-fold Jump in Profit Oct 24, 2003

High-tech giant NEC Corp said it chalked up a consolidated net profit of 15.50 billion yen in the first half of fiscal 2003, a 15-fold jump from the 1.04 billion yen posted a year earlier due to strong sales of mobile devices and profits from share sales.

In its consolidated earnings report for the April-September period based on U.S. accounting standards, NEC also booked a pretax profit of 77.79 billion yen, up 281.8 percent over the same period of fiscal 2002. (Kyodo News)
