The city of Beijing is ahead of Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing in growth rate of consumer goods retailing in China.
Latest figures from Beijing Municipal Statistics Bureau show the city achieved 138.61 billion yuan (U.S. $16.7 billion) in retail sales of consumer goods from January to September, up 13.7 percent on the same period last year.
In September alone, the city registered 17.18 billion yuan ($2.07 billion) in retail sales of consumer goods, up 11.7 percent, which is a record high.
The retail sales of consumer goods over the entire year are expected to grow by about 13 percent, said an analyst with the statistics bureau. (XIC, Asia Pulse)
