Hewlett-Packard and Alcatel, a telecommunications equipment maker, announced an agreement to jointly sell a package of services to small and midsize businesses.
The companies signed France Télécom as the first partner among telephone operators to offer the "Ready Office" package, which will provide small businesses with services from PCs and servers to software, network access, voice, data, and Internet networking. Carly Fiorina, chief executive of Hewlett-Packard, and Serge Tchuruk, her counterpart at Alcatel, announced the agreement at the ITU Telecom World conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
Alcatel and Hewlett-Packard are aiming to profit from the U.S. $300 billion that small and medium-sized companies will spend this year on fixed and mobile services, Mr. Tchuruk said. (Bloomberg)
