Worldwide digital camera shipments by Japanese makers surged 77 percent in August, with the biggest gains in Europe, an industry group said.
Shipments from camera makers like Canon, Fuji Photo Film, and Olympus rose to 3.35 million units in August, as sales climbed 51 percent to 93 billion yen, or U.S. $839 million, said the Camera and Imaging Products Association in Tokyo.
Shipments in Japan rose 39 percent, the group said, while shipments to Europe climbed 92 percent and shipments to North America rose 67 percent. (Bloomberg)
