Mike Thompson, senior director of Regulatory Affairs and State Government Relations for Whirlpool Corporation, passed away in late July.

He had a 25-year career with the company that included many singular achievements, but in particular showed great leadership for the entire industry in his dealings with the U.S. Government on matters of appliance energy efficiency and product labeling at the federal and state levels. He frequently testified on behalf of the industry before the Government and standard setting bodies, and served on a variety of Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) committees.

He is survived by his wife, four children, and one grandchild.
